Pizza ( with yeast)

Homemade Pizza Recipe

Prep time: 2 hours
Cook time: 30 minutes
Yield: Makes 2 10-12-inch pizzas & 2 small pizzas

INGREDIENTS

Pizza Dough:
Makes enough dough for two 10-12 inch pizzas

240ml warm water (40°C-50°C)
11gr of active dry yeast
3.5 cups flour
2 Tbsp oil / melted butter
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar

Pizza Ingredients

Tomato sauce + Mixed herbs
Mozzarella cheese, 
canned Mushrooms,
thinly sliced green peppers, (stems and seeds removed), thinly sliced sausage, (cooked ahead)
Thinly sliced Ham,
thinly sliced pineapple
thinly sliced tomato

METHOD

MAKING THE PIZZA DOUGH

Make and knead the pizza dough: 

1. Sift flour, salt, sugar & yeast into a mixing bowl
2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly
3. Add warm water little by little into the flour mixture
4. Knead with hands until a firm dough is formed
( make sure the dough is not too dry to allow yeast to react)

5. Transfer dough into a greased bowl and cling wrap for about 1 hour until dough doubles in size

Memo :
>> You can let it sit for several hours if you want. The longer rise will improve the flavor of the pizza crust.

If you don't have a warm spot in the house you can heat the oven to 150 degrees, and then turn off the oven. Let the oven cool till it is just a little warm, then place the bowl of dough in this warmed oven to rise.

(At this point, if you want to make ahead, you can freeze the dough in an airtight container for up to two weeks.)

PREPARING THE PIZZAS

1 Preheat oven to 230°C to 240°C (about 10-15min)

2 Punch down dough, divide into two balls: Remove the plastic cover from the dough and punch the dough down so it deflates a bit.

3.  Divide the dough in half. Form two round balls of dough. Place each in its own bowl, cover with plastic and let sit for 10 minutes.

4 Flatten dough ball, and stretch out into a round: Working one ball of dough at a time, take one ball of dough and flatten it with your hands on a slightly floured work surface.

5. Use your palm to flatten the edge of the dough where it is thicker. You can pinch the very edges if you want to form a lip.

6. Brush oil unto the plate or surface which the pizza is gonna be placed on.

7. Transfer the flattened dough to the plate / surface

(If the dough has lost its shape in the transfer, lightly shape it to the desired dimensions.)

8. Cover and let rest for another 15- 20 min with cloth until the dough is leavened further.

9. Spread the dough with tomato sauce and sprinkle with toppings: Spoon on the tomato sauce, sprinkle with cheese, and place your desired toppings on the pizza.

10. Place the pizza in the oven of 235°C to 240°C for 15-20 min under top & bottom heat. Then change source of oven heat to top heat for 5-10 min for the cheese to turn golden
